Milk Banitsa

A sweet dish I really enjoy

Ingredients:

  •  FILO dough crushed in small pieces (in Bulgaria you can buy a sort of Home made FILO dough already crushed) 
  • milk - it depends on how much FILO dough you use - if using dough to fill 1/2 of the baking dish then plan to add 2x the volume in milk - for a normal glass baking dish I may use 1/3 of a gallon of milk 
  • 4 large eggs 
  • 2 cups of sugar 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
Bake the FILO dough for 3-4 minutes in a hot oven (at about 375 degrees F)
Mix the eggs with a tea spoon of salt and add 1 cup of the sugar
Add the rest of the sugar in the baking dish Mix the milk with the beaten eggs Pour over the FILO dough
Bake around 30 minutes or until Banitsa is golden / red on the top Sprinkle with powdered sugar
